UTC Freshman Senate Holds Second Annual Turkey Pass

On Thursday the 16th, the UTC Freshman Senate held their second annual Turkey Pass event. The Freshman Senate and other volunteers gathered on Vine Street to help load food items such as turkeys, canned goods, and other non-perishable foods. The items were donated to the Chattanooga area food bank, which supplies donated food to people in need.

Freshman Senate member Kevin Finch gave me his take on the amount of food collected at this year’s turkey pass.

“I didn’t count how many turkeys we got, but they were nice and big… We got a decent amount of cans in there. I feel like if they just like dispersed it like, you know, evenly, it will go along way.”

We also talked to Lane Gutridge, who informed us as to why the freshman senate got involved with the turkey pass.

“We really wanted to do something that benefited the community as well as get the students involved, and because the turkey pass is already an annual event, we just wanted to expound off of that, and i think we were really successful.”

The turnout was a little bit less than last year, but there was still enough food to spread to the local families.
