Chattanooga softball began their conference season off with a slow start as they lost their first game series to Mercer.
In Saturday’s double header, the Mocs lost game one 6-3. With the game scoreless, freshman catcher Cameren Swafford sent a solo home run over left center to bring the Mocs up 1-0 in game two.
The lead did not last long, though, as Mercer came from behind to beat the Mocs in a close game 2-1. Mercer swept the conference series on Sunday, when they beat the Mocs 11-0.
The Mocs look for redemption this weekend at Samford before returning home to play Austin Peay on Wednesday.
