The Lady Mocs will be competing in the Southern Conference Tournament this week. Earlier in the week, we spoke with head coach Jim Foster and senior Aryanna Gilbert before the team left for the tournament in Asheville, North Carolina.
“I think it helps that we have a pretty good idea how to behave when we get up there, and we know how to act when we’re a target when people are coming are after you,” says head coach Jim Foster. “I think there’s a lot of teams up there this time that are capable of winning three games in four days.”
The Mocs will be without senior guard Keiana Gilbert, who suffered a lower leg injury last week. The eleventh all-time leading scorer for UTC was an all-SOCON selection this season.
“It actually hasn’t been much of a difference,” says Aryanna Gilbert. “Of course, we’re missing her presence, but I think a lot of people have stepped up, so it hasn’t been that tough without her.”
UTC took on six-seeded UNCG, who were beaten by the Mocs in their only matchup in January.
