No.7 Tennessee Sweeps Kent State 70-0 and Breaks School Records Saturday

   KNOXVILLE(mocsnews.com)- No. 7 Tennessee sweeps Kent State 70-0 and breaks school records.

   Vols running back Dylan Sampson rushed for 101 yards and four touchdowns in the first quarter. Coach Heupel says, “Sampson has great vision and pace. He presses the line of scrimmage and is elusive in space”. 

   Sampson said, “You can only control what you’ve got at the moment. That’s the way you find out who you are. The position is about grit”. 

 According to The Associated Press, running back DeSean Bishop added 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns just in the first half and quarterback Nico Lamaleava, was 10 for 16 for 173 yards.

  According to Knox News,  the Volunteers (3-0) crushed multiple school records Saturday including most points scored in a quarter (37), points in a half (65), points in a single game (71), and yards in total offense (740) since 1937. 

The Volunteers say, “It was a record shattering night”. 

   According to UTsports News, the previous record for points scored in a half was 49, points scored in a quarter was 35, points scored total was 70, and the previous record for yards in total offense was 724. 
Next week, the Volunteers will visit coach Heupel’s alma mater, No.15 Oklahoma at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, according to the Associated Press.
