CHATTANOOGA (mocsnews.com) – The NFL (National Football League) took a massive financial blow in 2020 and 2021 with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The salary cap for 2021 was set at $192.6 million while this year’s salary cap is set at $208.2 million.
This is an increase of roughly $16 million giving teams more opportunities to purchase free agents during this off season.
Football fans are discussing possible trades with a lot of room for speculating. Some notable players that are still available include Julio Jones, Rob Gronkowski, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and hundreds more.
Rob Gronkowski has had tremendous success with quarterback Tom Brady in the past that resulted in multiple Super Bowl wins.
Growing up I played football starting at the young age of eight all the way through high school.
I developed very close friendships with my teammates and a few of them went off to play football in college.
Mitch Rossi is a friend of mine who currently plays football for Ohio State University. He also participates in fantasy football, so he likes to be up to date on the most recent football trades.
“I’ve been watching a lot of players but I’m wondering where T.Y Hilton is going to go. My friends are saying he’s going to the Jaguars, but I think the colts are going to resign him again for another year. The Colts haven’t said anything about releasing him so if they got the money, they would do it he’s a top tier player,” Mitch said in a phone interview earlier this week.
Giving my opinion that the Colts would let T.Y Hilton go to another team he responded with I “wouldn’t count on it.”
The highest paid contract so far this season has been Von Miller who was traded from the Los Angeles Rams, the team that won the Super Bowl this year, to the buffalo bills. The contract is for $120 million dollars for six years.
This means he will make 20 million dollars every year unless he decides to opt out after his third year.
This is no surprise as Von Miller has two Super Bowl wins and is arguably the best defensive player in the entire league.
Chandler Stump, a former defensive player for the Memphis football team, explains why the Von Miller trade is a huge win for the Bills.
“The Bills had an incredible season last wear I mean they won the AFC east. Their offense is already amazing because they have Josh Allen as their quarterback. With Von Miller on defense, they are going to be a threat that’s for sure.”
Fans are excited for these players to hopefully join their favorite team and there is still a lot of players open.
UTC football equipment manager Patrick says the next NFL football season will be “more exciting and competitive” as ever with the talent that is spread out on all the teams.
Now that COVID-19 is over we can expect this upcoming NFL season to be a lot different than before with a lot of great players being traded to different teams.
