Multicultural Center Discusses “Take a Knee” Movement

The Multicultural Center hosted its monthly What’s Real dialogue. This month’s topic was Take a Knee. The movement, which was inspired by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick brought students, faculty, and veterans together.

Attendees sat in small groups and discussed an array of topics from police brutality to the Black Lives Matter movement. Students then joined into the one group to voice their opinions.

Assistant director Terri Thomas shared her thoughts.

“The main thing we got from this dialogue was that the dialogue doesn’t stop here, and what are we going to do as action steps as a ripple effect to bring it into the community to make a change. We can’t have community without unity, so this is the first step towards unity here at UTC.”

Be on the look out for next month’s dialogue.
